"SparrowHawk"
44" span experimental slope soarer

SparrowHawk prototype prior to it's first flight in the Spring of 1985.

The SparrowHawk originated from the Windigo, a 44" span aerobatic sailplane designed by Pete Roehling (Model Builder magazine plan # 6842).  The original Windigo was designed around micro servos and a 250mAh battery. Initial design changes were done to accommodate a standard 500 mAh battery, standard aileron servo and a micro elevator servo (In those days I just couldn't afford all that fancy micro radio gear).

The final, Mk4 variant of the SparrowHawk, this time powered by a .049 Blackwidow mounted as pusher engine under the trailing edge of the wing.
